Dentists specialize in keeping your teeth bright, shiny, and healthy, but did you know that they do much more than that too?  Your mouth is a window to the rest of your body.  By getting regular dental exams and cleanings, your risk for heart disease, stroke, coronary artery disease, diabetes, and respiratory problems could be reduced.  Part of Dr. Komyathy’s job is to look for warning signs of periodontal disease.  This is caused when the bone surrounding your teeth starts to deteriorate, eventually leading to tooth loss.  When these bad bacteria in your mouth travel to the rest of your body, it can lead to serious health conditions.  Be sure to schedule regular cleanings every 6 months.  By visiting the dentist, you are keeping your whole body healthy!

Many people make New Years resolutions. Have you chosen yours yet? This is the time of year when most people start hitting the gym or go on a diet to look and feel better. But did you know that staying healthy isn't only about going to the gym?

Your mouth is a vital piece in the total health spectrum. Although it is very important to eat right and stay active, it is also essential to brush, floss, and have regular dental check-ups.  Dentists check for several signs of overall body health by looking at your tongue, gums, and general tooth health.

Dr. Komyathy looks for warning signs like inflamed gum tissues, worn down tooth enamel due to grinding your teeth, or excessive amounts of cavities to help keep you on a path to staying happy and healthy.  Schedule your appointment today by clicking on the “Appointment Request” tab at the top of the page.  We will be back in the office starting Monday, January 5th.  Until then, we hope you are enjoying the time with your family and friends.  Happy New Year!
